The day is off to an unfortunate start, having assumed incorrectly that I'd be able to send home some climbing gear that I won't use for a couple months. According to the post office, it's all too big for the mail -- and thus bound to be my burden, at least for another few days.
It's no matter, though, because today I'm off to Australia and the Whitsunday Islands to see the Great Barrier Reef. How I'll get there and how long I'll stay is yet to be determined. Good thing I've just started a new book to occupy my travel time: The Worst Journey in the World, by Aspley Cherry-Garrard.
